The Clark Honors Experience is not some conventional honors program. It is co-designed by students and faculty to bring positive change, and each student contributes ideas to shape the experience for future cohorts. Through this experience and accomplishments in and out of the classroom, students who graduate with the honors accolade are stand-out candidates for potential employers and graduate schools.

You’ll complete four multi-disciplinary courses designed for the experience. These courses highlight the importance of exploring multiple approaches to address the big issues of the day. Up this year: Education, Equity and Possibility.

No. While the Honors Experience has an interdisciplinary academic focus, the experience goes beyond the classroom and is intended to foster personal growth and empower cohorts to create communities of like-minded scholars.

Some of the other benefits to enrolling in the Honors Experience are:

  • Each cohort participates in a cultural enrichment event. Fall 2023 students traveled to Boston to attend a performance by sitarist Anoushka Shankar; spring 2024 students shared a Vietnamese meal.
  • Special funding is available for co-curricular activities.

荣誉经历 has been designed such that Department Honors are not affected. All Honors students must complete a culminating experience in their senior year. Many will want to do this through existing Departmental Honors programs, and are encouraged to do so. Departmental honors will show on the student’s record at graduation, 以及荣誉经历. Departmental Honors will remain open to all eligible students, at the discretion of the department faculty. Participation in the Honors Experience does not guarantee acceptance into Departmental Honors.

The first cohort of Honors Experience students will be selected through the admission process and begin as first-year students in the fall 2024 semester. Students who are not selected for the fall cohort may apply to join in the spring.
